So Disney hasn't had a good run lately... Their last good movie was probably Mulan (not counting Pixar's influence). So I went to this with more then a bit of trepidation. But it surprises. It's sweet, and cute, and infectious, bringing to mind the classic Disney movies you loved as a child like Little Mermaid and BEauty and the Beast. So it's not probably AS good as them, but the reminder still leaves you warm and fuzzy without gagging at too much sweetness. Then of course the songs are good as well with Alan Menken at the helm, another reminder of days gone by. Kids will love it, parents will enjoy, and everyone should have a good time.
It seems to me that any time a movie does something different, tries something new, it gets all these bad reviews bashing it. It boggles the mind. This movie is well acted, it is well directed. It had beautiful music and cinematography. And as for the plot... that "ridiculous" use of showing the same scene over again had a purpose. The point of the movie is to see how a mistake could be made by misjudging what you see with your own two eyes. And as for not feeling for a character, I'll say that this is a sad movie. A depressingly so one. Girls likely will prefer it, but even men should be able to see the beauty of tragedy that occurs. Go see it, bring tissues. And never listen to a user review.
