Funny, well-written. Explores marriage and friendship, "what do women want?" and the wonderful thing called a husband. Men and women both love it. It is perfect.
Coraline is not like most animated children’s movies. Its dark atmosphere keeps it from becoming a mushy Disney-ish comedy, although the movie still has funny bits and a good message. The hand-made world and the 3-D pull you into the story and make it feel more real than CGI ever could. The movie captures the wacky wonder of Neil Gaiman’s book, keeping it subtle and slightly scary without trying too hard to soften it up for younger audiences. Coraline creates a beautiful, tangible and mysterious world that will take its rightful place beside The Nightmare Before Christmas.
