I would not consider myself a 'Trekker' (or even a 'Trekkie') but I am a fan of the series, and I did have some serious concerns about how true a prequel could be to the original characters. Well, it was done masterfully with a genius that was every bit the equal of Gene Roddenberry's creation ... yet the story line allows for a whole NEW universe of Star Trek for a new generation. Old-school Trek fans - whether they prefer Shatner or Stewart - should welcome the resurrection of the franchise; those with no Trek background but who enjoy great SciFi plot and action have great things to look forward to! BOLDLY GO WHERE TENS OF THOUSANDS HAVE GONE BEFORE ...SEE THIS MOVIE THIS WEEK - PREFERABLY IN IMAX!!!!!!
EXCELLENT! ... Even though it definitely earned the PG-13 rating for some of the innuendos (I wouldn't want to have to explain the 'defusing' scene to my 8-year old grandson), this was one of the best movies I've seen in the last 40 years. Humor (subtle and slapstick), satire, and some plain old unapoligetic, flag-waving pro-American pride. Take your liberal friends to see it: they're sure to see you in it, and (if they're honest), they may even see THEMSELVES! I'll be going again before the week is out! -- Mr Bill, Ocoee, FL
Extremely informative and thought-provoking. If you believe in freedom of THOUGHT, you need to see this movie ... regardless of which side you are on in the Evolution / I.D. discussion. And take your friends and family: it's THAT important.
