I saw this movie, having won tickets for a "sneak-peek", before the official release date. Charlie Bartlett (Hilton) is a smart-a** wise acre high school student with a natural flare for business. I predict that he will do well in any MBA program or law school when he grows up. Charlie's brainstorms are novel and funny but the plot is better suited to those considerably younger than I so it was difficult for me to fully appreciate it. If you are older than 10 but less than 25 you're bound to enjoy this one! If you're over 25, there are many more age appropriate choices available.
Was this movie supposed to be a romantic COMEDY??? It is romantic in a cute sort of way and somewhat amusing but decidedly NOT funny. There are a few good lines at the beginning but they become fewer and father between as the movie progresses. The photography is quite spectacular and is worth the price of the ticket. The acting is not convincing and for that reason, is disappointing. I would rate this movie as a 2 -STAR film.
Althought the acting was excellent, Bardem in particular, the plot was weak and didn't hang-together for me. I also thought that it was way toooooo violent and there was too much blood and too many bodies. I found it gory and creepy... In summary, I HATED IT.
This movie is more than cute...it's smart! There are soooo mancy smart one-liners delivered with perfection by Page. You've GOT to see this one whether it/she wins any Oscars or not!
make this film great family viewing. The plot is highly similar to the first National Treasure movie so if you enjoyed that movie you'll like this one, too. Cage is wonderful in his star role and Diane Kruger is also superb as his girlfriend/accomplice. Jon Voight was well cast in the role Cage's father and is totally believable in the role. Lots of interesting international and historical sites, too.
Nicholson and Freeman are definitely at their best in this film. Got to be seen if you appreciate the art of the one-liners. Nicholson delivers them like the pro that he is. An excercise in male bonding at its best.
Although this film is very well done the plot is slow to unfold. I thought I'd never learn what it was that had been witnessed. Would have been better if it was a little faster moving but the costumes, sets and acting was wonderful.
