I left the theatre feeling good after seeing "Hotel for Dogs". It is an entertaining family movie, suitable for viewers of all ages. Emma Roberts does an excellent job in portraying the elder of two orphaned siblings who begin with one canine ("Friday") and gradually take in more. Problems with a series of foster families lead the creative children to an abandoned hotel which slowly becomes a haven for the pair as well as the numerous canines they take in. If you like animals, especially dogs, this is the movie for you this season! Go and enjoy "Hotel for Dogs".
The plot is somewhat weak and for my money, Hoffman wasn't quite up to his usual standard of excellence. Emma Thompson gave a convincing performance. There are better movies out there at the present and unless you've seen them all, you can safely pass on this one. You won't have missed much.
This is a very humorous movie, with a powerful message concerning racism. Eastwood was fabulous in the leading role as an aging Polish-American Korean War hero who detests the "gooks" who have moved into his neighbourhood and into the house next door, in particular. He finally gets to know the individual members of the family on a personal level and discovers that he actually likes them, as individuals. He comes to accept them and finally gives his life so the young boy and his teenage sister could live in peace, without fear of further violence being perpetrated against them by neighborhood gangs. This movie is awesome and powerful. Not one to be missed!
This non-fictional account of one of the numerous plots to murder Adolph Hitler is astounding and keeps the viewer glued to their chair. The time just flew by and it did not seem at all lengthy or boring. I don't usually enjoy war movies but his movie is more of the suspense genre than a "war movie", per say. Tom Cruise was superb in the title role. His performance was both realistic and historically accurate.
This account of a puppy and his life with his adopted human family is NOT the cute comedy that the trailer portrays. The ending is tragic and in my view, this movie is not an appropriate choice for children. It's not a 'feel good' choice for a holiday movie, either. The tears were running down my face as I left the theatre.
although almost 3 hours in length the time seems to fly by as Kidman and Jackman work their magic in this historical depiction of the growth of Australia. The film depicts the assimilation of their native Aboriginal first citizens, under the rule of the British. It's a real eye-opener and well worth seeing. For those who enjoy romance, there is some great chemistry going on between Kidman and Jackman. Not a film to be overlooked this season!
you've GOT to see this one! Perhaps the best movie of the year. It's a bit long but the time flies! Great acting and an interesting script and plot. I was with some trepidition that I went to see this movie. It was undeserved and I loved it! Enjoy!
I didn't k now that much about the Bush family before father and son became US Presidents. WOW, what an eye-opener concerning the dysfunctional family dynamics. Suspected (but didn't know for sure) that "W" was pretty much a loser before entering politics and this movie sure confirmed my earlier suspicions. Brolin deserves an Oscar for his work, btw. His portrayal of "W" is excellent. This movie has it all: wealth, power, and corruption. Just like the Bush family. What more could anyone ask for?
for viewers of all ages. I really enjoyed this movie and the humour was great. I would recommend this film to animal lovers of all ages, without reservation. See it and enjoy....
