I was expecting more from this long-awaited Twilight sequal. I found the movie to be over the top in terms of the numbers of actors, sets, film locations, etc. Twlight was a great movie because it had a wonderful plot as well as for the simplicity of it. Everything about it was understated. Sadly, New Moon is just another big budget blockbuster. The qualities of the first book in the series have been lost.
The Box "creeped me out" and I'm not easily frightened. Frank Langella did it to me much the same way as Boris Karloff used to scare thousands. In my opinion, The Box is not really a morality play. It's a play about making a pact with the devil for financial gain rather than for immortalily. There is a lot of chemestry between Diaz and Marsden and they are very convincing in their roles of upper class professionals who find that they are living somewhat beyond their means. That's when the trouble starts.... I can't recommed the movie because I found it somewhat disturbing rather than entertaining.
Awesome movie! One of the best I've seen this year and I see a lot of movies. There is some gore but only because it's essential to the plot. I turned my head away. You can't miss this film. The ending makes the psychological discomfort you may have experienced at the bloodshed. Worth it all.
and great acting! I really enjoyed this movie. It was smart, light and witty. As expected, Canadian Ellen page was awesome as the 17 year old who aspired to become a roller derby queen, while her aging mother, a former beauty pagent winner, had other plans for her daughter. Drew Barrymore did a great job in directing her first movie as well as in her supporting role onscreen. A great movie for teenage (and older) women.
I see a lot of movies, usually two or three a week. This is one of the happiest feel good movies that has come out in a while. Martin Sheen and Jennifer Aniston are both well cast in their respective roles and there is good chemistry between them onscreen. Martin Sheen made me want to take him home with me. It's cleverly done, without being cute. The plot deals with the difficult topic of the loss of a loved one with great sensitivity. Despite the topic I left the theater feeling good about life and myself. Everyone should see this movie. It's a keeper!
I disliked this movie alot. I found the plot non-existant. It's very hot, but notwithstanding, it's not worth the admission price. Ashton Kutcher is the kind of guy women try to avoid. He uses women every way possible. The ultimate gigalo. Anne Heche was great but still not worth staying to the end of the film. I walked after 45 minutes and the ticket was free.
not great. Streep was awesome in her role as Julia Child but we all knew she would be. Adams gave a less than stellar performance as Julie, a woman with a passion for food and a strong sense of admiration for Julia Child. The movie alternates between the lives of these two American women who don't have much in common but a love of cooking and being married to supportive men. I didn't get enough of Streep on screen for my liking while I found Adams' scenes somewhat tedious. Julie & Julia was good but it wasn't great.
HP6 left me wanting. I wanted to see more special effects that we have come to associate with the young wizzard of Hogwarts. I also wanted a logical plot, which this movie lacked. The acting was good as we have come to expect by now from this very experienced cast who, despite valiant efforts of the makeup department, look too old to be believable in their roles. Their faces are no longer fresh and eager but rather, their depictions of their characters have become tired and jaded. I hate to say it BUT...save your money and wait for the video!
Imagine That is a highly entertaining blend of fantasy and reality and the outcome when the two worlds mingle. Yara Shahidi is amazing and I predict that this movie will be her vehicle to stardom. She upstages Eddie Murphy in many of the scenes and one gets the sense that she could have gone further... it's a cute, "feel good" kind of movie and great family entertainment for all ages.
