Unique, Beautiful, Captivating

A truly unique experience. The sheer volume of creativity... images... all-enveloping atmosphere... unlike anything else.

I loved the plot... partly because it WAS familiar. Makes it CLASSIC... stranger in a (very) strange land.

Some movies echoed in Avatar:

*Dances With Wolves*
*Braveheart* - big speech, gathering clans, hidden love... it's all there
*Lawrence Of Arabia* - outsider leads
*Aliens* - giant walking soldier/robot
*Lord of the Rings* - trees' world-wide network, swarming warrior ghosts (=Eywa's planet life), Gollum, much more
*The Abyss* - floating white/pink umbrellas (see Tree of Souls in Avatar)
*Every sci-fi/fantasy book or movie you've ever experienced* - because life is a continuum on which we all abide
