It's ashame, because I wanted to like this movie, but it was one of the strangest, most uncomfortable, most poorly written, weird movies I have seen in a long time. This movie just does not know what it wants to be - apatow comedy- social commentary - farce. the only for-sure is that is is very strange - all of us walked out shaking our heads and wishing we had just gone to sleep early instead.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Nice job taking a movie we all know and updating it in a fresh way. Jaden Smith is great, though I'm not 100% convinced if Will was not his dad, he'd ever really see the light of day. Nonetheless, he does well -- plan on watching him for the next, oh, 40 or 50 years. Jackie Chan and the mom are also strong. Shooting it in China is a nice touch. I really like the quick, subtle references to the original (Jackie Chan at one point waxing his car). Took my 14 year old daughter and her friend. They loved it, and as you k now, 14 year old girls only like Twilight. Overall, nice evening at the movies.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
