This movie is meticulously crafted as one might expect from Scorsese, and also has tremendous warmth and heart which one might not. It is both a love letter to the cinema art and to the imagination. The script by John Logan is smart and moving.

Smart and stylish adaptation, very faithful to the novel. The script and actors succeed in making the material their own; it holds its own against the Swedish trilogy/miniseries.
