I HOPED 4 a decent portrayal. And my hopes were met. I went with my husband and he LOVED it. The beginning of the film is fast in order to get to the good stuff. I was worried about the KISS, it was PERFECT!! I was worried about the baseball and sparkle scene. The sparkle scene was a little cheesy but I was quite satisfied with the outcome. The baseball scene...not long enough, I wanted more. Now the second trip we took my cousin who had NOT read the books and there were bits that he did not get. Like why Edward grabbed his nose and glared at her like he hated her the first day in Biology. And also why he stared at her confused during lunch before Biology. I had to explain to him.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
