While very funny throughout, some scenes that may appear surreal are actually very accurate to Levitown-like life in the mid-1960's. The film asks the same type of religious questions that I was seriously pursuing while trying to get to the meat of my religion from 2nd to 7th grade. The answer I got is similar to that given in the film - religion is only what you can make of it and no one can tell you anything more precise because there is no there there and the stories are just that. The film chronicles the end of knee-jerk religious belief faced scientific progress. This is the period when it stopped making sense to children and we were all left to find our own ways with tradition for support but without faith.
