The time went so rapidly, we were stunned when the movie was over! Very well done. I am married to a recovered stutterer, have a daughter who sometimes stutters and a step daughter whose stuttering is torturous. Colin Firth captured exactly how a strong, capable, seemingly assured person can wilt in a moment and become almost incapable of speech. When he wilted under his brother's mocking his nickname, he had me in his hand. That he had moments of fluency with an inner circle was equally realistic. Helena B.C. was also perfect -- and so unlike many of the other characters she has played equally delightfully.
Some plot parts were predictable, but there was nothing that didn't build the suspense. And, it was suspenful and fast paced. First time in a long time that I thought I'd like to see a sequel: Because I'm not sure we've seen the last of the identity flips or maybe even of the people who got spider venom or an equivalent rather than a real kill? Why, oh why, does Jolie have to be so anorexically thin?
Wow! The money might be fake but the emotions that ran throughout this movie never felt like forgeries. The lead played his part perfectly. It was fitting that it all got to him in the end. What was happening to the "average" concentration camp inmate -- including some of the counterfeiting crew's family members -- leaked into the story in ways that were painful and believable; it served as a reminder of just how good the counterfeiters had it and how wrenching the moral dilemma must really have been for those who collaborated to survive. Don't miss it!
