"And here we... Go."

I've already reviewed the IMAX version of this film from Thursday at midnight. On Saturday night, I saw it for the second time and ended up liking it even more. This is probably the best "super hero" movie I've ever seen. It is certainly in the class of 1978's "Superman," 1980's "Superman II," 1989's "Batman," 2002's "Spider-Man," and 2004's "Spider-Man 2"... not to mention its equally fantastic predecessor 2005's "Batman Begins." The first time I watched "The Dark Knight," I just took it all in. What was a 150 minutes seemed closer to 90... it literally flew by. On a second viewing, every piece of dialogue had a reason for being there, every single turn was exciting, and every word uttered by the Joker (played by Heath Ledger) kept me on the edge of my seat. Ledger's performance is on-par with the great villain work previously done by Gene Hackman (Lex Luthor in "Superman I & II") and Jack Nicholson (the Joker in "Batman"). I probably will go see this movie again not only because I want to (and trust me I do), but because I have to. I have to let this one run through my mind once more. This movie is a can't-miss experience from beginning to end. "The Dark Knight" is an example of what future summer blockbusters will be compared to, and probably (with few exceptions) fall short. This is filmmaking at its very best.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie is as good as it gets, and it is a shining example of what summer movies are all about. The story was top-notch. The story's writers (Nolan and Goyers) did it again with their follow up to 2005's "Batman Begins." This story showed originality, while remaining true to what is (in my opinion) the very best super hero in comic book history. Nolan's masterpiece (and this is the only word that truly describes it) will surprise you by drawing you in and then take you on a ride unlike any other. Everything that has been said about Heath Ledger's performance as "The Joker" are true. Ledger put himself in a class with Jack Nicholson's Joker and Hackman's Lex Luthor in all-time villain performances. And it should be mentioned (because it is overlooked by so many reviews) that the rest of the cast was equally to the task as Ledger. The only difference being that the Joker's role was by the far the most ineresting. It would be nearly impossible to walk out of this film and not like it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not Worth It

This movie was bad from the word go. The action was sparse and uninteresting, the story was lame and dragged throughout, and the acting (outside of Brendan Fraser) was mediocre at best. Even the 3-D was a disappointment. The idea that this film should be given a pass because it's PG or cause it's intended for children is a cop-out... especially considering that "Kung Fu Panda" and "Wall-E" have proven to be amongst the best flicks of this summer season. "Journey" is definitely worth missing.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Really Good Doc

I found this documentary to be really informative. I am not super familiar with Hunter S. Thompson's work... other than "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and having read one of his books... so, this may have been a regurgitation for Hunter's die hard fans. But I think that anyone who watches this film will want to know more about the man and his writing. I really believe that anyone who sees this with an open mind will want to delve deeper into Hunter's various works... I know I do.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Fun 90 Minutes

This movie was much funnier than I expected. The humor was dead-on, and there was some comedic chemistry between Will Smith and Jason Bateman. The premise was actually quite brilliant, while the story could have been a bit better, but was decent. It's hard to be original with the 'super hero' genre, but this movie made a valiant effort.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great plot, great comedy, and an underlying sweetness to boot. You will love "Wall-E"... whether you're 5 years old or you're 95 years old. The animation was stunning to say the least. Simply stated... this was a great film! "Wall-E" is just another example of what has been an impressive summer.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

"Wanted" is a well-told, well-acted, and well-executed film. The action sequences are top-notch, and the story leaves you 'wanting' for nothing.

Despite my rating of 3 stars, this movie was worth the time. Simply put, this movie was funny. The story was not the best, but Steve Carell's brilliant comedic preformance made up for the various plot issues, which centered on predicatability.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I would go close to 4.5 stars for this one. Great plot, great acting, and the best film of 2007 in my opinion. This is what I hope for everytime I see a movie. At the time of this review, "Gone Baby Gone" is already available on DVD. You shoudl rent this movie for sure, but I would recommend buying it because it is a great film for any DVD collection. Everyone attached to this film was worthy of an Oscar.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
