No one could accuse this movie of being original, as most of the jokes were already done in the original movie. There are laughs to be had in this movie though, far more than I ever thought. I went in hoping to laugh and I wasn't disappointed. This movie is definitely not for anyone that is easily offended or who has a problem with male nudity. I wish Justin Bartha's character Doug had been featured more; it would have been interesting if they had mixed things up and allowed in to participate in the drunken shenanigans along with the other guys. I also wish some of the situations and scenes had not been so identical to those in the original. As much as I enjoyed this film, I truly believe the well has run dry and hope that no one involved tries for a third. If they wanted to spin off the Alan character into an unrelated story that might work, but not another repeat of this. Time to say goodbye to the Hangover guys.
Touching, emotional, scary, and thrilling...everything the first part of the final chapter of this excellent series is supposed to be. The choice to split this story into two definitely was the right one as there was far too much in the story to whittle it down to one 2 1/2 hour movie. I am counting the months until part 2!
The beginning of this movie is your typical sullen teen meets golden child and then the sparks fly kind of story. Not told very well, poor dialogue, and wooden acting. Jokes fell flat with the audience and so it was very painful to watch during the first 45 minutes. As the story progressed and the typical Nicholas Sparks manipulation took place, the story became much better and the writing improved. The young boy who played the younger brother is a good actor, I hope to see him again. The directing was not the greatest and the editing was poor as well. In several places it felt as if scenes were chopped off and crucial information was missing. My tween daughter and her friend loved it; I only enjoyed the last half. Take your kleenex!
