As robotics are one of the 'in' topics of discussion currently, this movie's timing is impeccable. Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal of his character is the epitome of the mega-wealthy, genius, handsome heir to a fortune made by his father. He's quirky, emotionally shut down, frighteningly brillant, impetuous, very much his own man making his own way throug his world without really caring what others think of him. (Very akin to the rumors regarding Howard Hugh's behavior and social interactions with people.) Jeff Bridges is appropriately creepy , intelligent and scheming. Despite his sociopathic brilliance, his character falls just short of the mastery portrayed by R. Downey Jr.'s character. Perfect. Gwyneth Paltrow is also wonderful, adding a wider dimension to roles previous played in the James Bond series by his female assistant in the home office, (Miss Pennyfeather?), that keep everything together and running efficiently while the hero is off having his escapades and, ulmately, saving the world. Paltrow's sense of style and beauty convey the idea that it's possible to be attractive AND intelligent, AND efficient at the same time. Hat's off the the cast, director, and the producers of this film!
