This movie will renew your faith in the art of movie-making and in humanity in general. We saw this and "Rachel Getting Married" in the same weekend and this was a much superior movie. It is fresh, hopeful and funny at times, but it also really opens your eyes to the horrible living conditions that so many people must endure. A must see.
The only redeeming quality was Anne Hathaway's acting. Otherwise you are going to wish you weren't invited to this wedding. There isn't one character we could relate to. Even the bride has few redeeming qualities. We went back and read all of the gushing reviews in the NYT, LA Times, Roger Ebert, etc. and it just doesn't add up. I'd rather get a root canal. I second the other reviewer who said he would have left but he was stuck in the middle of the row.
