While I did enjoy the movie I didn't get the big laughs I was expecting. The leads were pretty much perfect & the movie didn't lag at all. The feel of the movie was just about right as well. Worth a watch if you're a fan but if you don't dig the whole "Stooge vibe" you might be disappointed.
"Hoodwinked Too"! was fairly enjoyable. My son & I enjoyed it. It is better than the first installment & the 3D was effective. The best part of the movie is the singing goat who really made us laugh out loud repeatedly. He wasn't integral to the plot at all but he had the funniest bits throughout the movie. Some of the gags might be above smaller children's heads but they should enjoy it anyway.
Disney's "Tangled" is a brilliantly imagined & executed 3D animated film retelling the story of Rapunzel in a most entertaining fashion. Everyone knows the story of Rapunzel so I'm not going to get into the particulars of the story. But I will get into the marvelous animation & 3D effects the movie displayed. The animation was both smooth & realistic (except for the large eyes everyone seemed to have) & the 3D effects are top notch. We really felt like we were in the movie as we watched it. The songs were all beautifully sung & fit in with the story perfectly. It seems obvious to me that Disney is planning to take "Tangled" to Broadway eventually. Run, don't walk to see "Tangled". Your kids will love it & you will as well. It's both hilarious & heart tugging as well. A must see film & should already be considered a classic film in the Disney canon.
There's nothing technically wrong with this movie. It looks good, It sounds good, It features good actors, It just isn't very exciting overall. It's another rehash of "The Most Dangerous Game" with Predators instead of people. There are some good setpieces in it but a few god scenes do not a movie make. As a matter of fact it was actually pretty boring & very predictable with a silly ending. But the acting is good & if you're a fan of the "Predator" franchise you should be satisfied. I am but I wasn't. But that's just me. Give it a shot if you have the time. But only if you have the time. You can wait for home video for this one for sure.
We had fun watching this movie. We just thought it ran a little long. The effects were good & the actors seemed to be having a lot of fun making the movie. Cage was especially good. He balanced between serious & goofy just right. Worth a look if you have the time & few bucks to kick around.
I only went to see this because my 8 yr. son is a big fan of the books. Much to my surprise I enjoyed it just as much if not more than he did. We had a great time & you will too.
Sadly "Alice In Wonderland" was a stunning disappointment to me & my 8 yr. old son. Typically Burtonesque in both style & script with the "Bonus" of being displayed in 3-D. Some of the dialogue was undecipherable, the acting was way over the top (Helena Bonham Carter, What happened to you)? But most of all it's boring, boring, boring. I only gave it 2 stars for the special effects which weren't that special but hallucinogenic enough to keep me awake. No small feat. Do yourself a BIG favor & save your money. Trust me.
It's not going to win any academy awards or anything but the movie is a lot of fun & is perfectly tailored to kids aged 4-10. The acting was ok & I think that the jokes were just right for the kids & I laughed A lot as well (I'm 46). It's always great to see Julie Andrews in anything. She just adds class to whatever she participates in & it was good to see Billy Crystal back on the big screen even if it was just an extended cameo. Dwayne Johnson has got the kid movie chops as well. But I would like to see him in a another action film like "The Rundown" or something like that. He has a very likable personality & I've got a funny feeling he's playing himself in the movies he's been making lately. Good movie, good fun, take the kids!
I am 46 yrs. old & took my 8 yr. old son to see it & enjoyed it just as much as he did. It's simple, quick & funny. It's also only about 90 min. long. Which is a relief in the age of 3 hour movies. You will enjoy it & it's over before you know it. You know you want to go....go on!!
"Up" was a wonderful film full of laughs & exciting action scenes. My 7 yr old loved it. But I have to warn adults that there is a montage in the beginning of the movie & a scene towards the end of it that will bring tears to your eyes 7 your children might ask why are you crying? The 2 scenes in question are very emotional but they set up the plot of the film & are essential to it's success. Another Pixar smash!!
