I was bored in many parts of this movie. The action scenes were short and not that exciting and major leeps in plot were taken every times Holmes solved a major piece of the puzzle with the tiniest of clue (yes, I know, that's characteristic of the original novels but this is 2010, I'd like a little depth of story). I also had trouble understanding the fast, British accented, talking of Holmes which is unfortunate. The best part of the movie was the relationship between Holmes and Watson - they nailed it and it saved the movie. Two stars solely based on the character interplay - otherwise this would have been one star. Another hollywood blockbuster disappointment.

One of the best things about this movie is simply that it gets people talking about Star Trek again, and not just my pointy eared geek friends, but everyone. The story is not well put together and there are a lot of holes you just have to let go by so that you can enjoy the action, which there is plenty. I wish the story was better but I think the time alteration idea is a great way to reboot the series, even if it is way too easy. Go see it and have fun, just go with an open mind. You’ll love Chris Pine as Kirk with his dead on characterization of what we all hope Kirk was like as a youngster. Scotty and McCoy are also stand outs - both very funny and immediately endearing. You won't be disappointed, but you won't be blown away. Enyoy!

Don't waste your money. Isla proved that she is funny and capable of being a lead but the story is awful. Forget that it's nothing but the predictable nonsense you have seen in hundreds of other movies. What's really horrible is that even with a simple formula to follow, the writers and director made this into a poorly put together story more focused on individual funny scenes than actually delivering a story that makes sense. Save your money.

Star Wars Lite

It's always fun to see more of the star wars universe. Like Ep 1 and Ep 2, this is more Star Wars lite...meant more for kids than for adults but it's OK. Follows the same formula as all the movies so nothing new in terms of plot/resolution. The animation is impressive. As someone who grew up with the originals I was underwhelmed but seeing it with my kids was fun and they enjoyed it. Go in with low expectations and you'll come out fine.
