Haven't we waited all summer for this George Clooney movie? I agree with other reviewers that it was slow, complicated to the point of being incomprehensible. The photography showed the same shots over and over again: picturesque town, mountain road, the river, and repeat. I think the book might have been better. Clooney has been better in all his other movies. I'm telling my friends not to waste their time. So sorry...
No, I do not recommend this movie.

The shots of Cairo were fine, but I found the lead character completely devoid of vitality and thus boring. And incredibly unsophisticated (particularly in view of her pose as a crazy-busy magazine editor! -- from where, I wonder?) I found her to be a poor man's Meryl Streep, and NOT interesting. Her clothes, however, were great. Alexander Siddig was more authentic and likeable in his role.
This is probably the most interesting, well acted, complicated and thrilling movie I've seen in years. It keeps you on the edge of your seat with unexpected twists and turns until the last frame. Everyone in the audience was de-briefing the plot at the end. My friend and I will definitely want to see it again and make sure we caught all of the mysteries!
