Went with a youth group from church. Everyone enjoyed it. Steve Carell is fabulous as Gru. Had to hold back a few tears -- a touching story. Will definitely add to my DVD collection when it comes out.
Not that I expect every movie based on a book to be exactly like the book -- or we would have been in the theatre for ten hours -- but when directors ADD scenes that didn't take place in the book, I get frustrated. Too much snogging. But the cinematography and special effects were great. I enjoyed it, I guess I had higher expectations. I'd like the beginning of the movie to be like the beginning of the book. Harry in a coffee shop, checking out a waitress. . . when did that happen in the book? Maybe I sleep-read through that chapter.
