This movie will not compete for awards and probably my least favorite of all of Whitney's movies. The movie gave us a different Whitney when what I really wanted was the old Whitney. Unfortunately, her one song was no Bodyguard blockbuster. The story line is worthy of a made-for-TV movie. The excessive use of Old School recordings marred the real nostalgia that could have been created. The Sparkle in this movie is overshadowed by my yearning to see Whitney make her comeback. This movie would not have done that for her. Perhaps Sparkle will emerge from the shadows of this movie. The talent seems to be there.
Pros great original singing
Cons too predictable, not enough whitney
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A Farewell Well Done

The Iron Lady is a surprising present day look back by Maggie Thatcher on her life both public and personal at the same time. She seems to be a lady once known as very arrogant, strong and conservative who is now tormented by the loss of her husband and inability to let go of him. This is no salute to Maggie Thatcher and the content is strong given that she is still alive. It is a fitting farewell to a woman who led Great Britain for 11 years.Apart from the story line and irrespective of your politics, the acting by Meryl Streep is superb. She captures the strong Maggie Thatcher of the 80's and the very weak and almost pathetic Maggie Thatcher today. If you appreciate acting the way it used to be by Liz Taylor and Kate Hepburn, you should not miss this movie. It is an Academy Award performance. I am going to see it again.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is a B movie by an A director. Unfortunately, the focus seemed on whether Brolin could imitate the mannerisms of Bush. He does ok. However, to get to that point, the director cut up a lot of scenes without really telling a story of any kind. The movie is just a series of clips of dramatized (or over dramatized) events. There is nothing new.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
