As an almost 40 year old woman I am shamelessly addicted to these books. The first movie was a disappointment. New Moon stays pretty much true to the book. If you hadn't read the books, I'm not sure you'd follow the story or care about what was happening. The costuming of the Cullen Vampires was hideous and a distraction. The soundtrack was progressive and edgy, but the musical score was not complimentary, it was predicable and out of date. A phenomenal performance by Michael Sheen as Aro, but the rest of the cast could do with some serious acting workshops. Fans of the book will not be disappointed and will walk away wanting to see it again, or at the least pick up their dog-eared copy of New Moon for another read through.
I took my 10 year old daughter and a friend to see HSM3. There seems to be something for everybody in this movie. Plenty of singing and dancing for the wannabe divas and a few too many romantic Troy and Gabriella scenes for those pre-preteens. Cute lively music, and nostalgic high school angst for the parents.
