Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett were great in their roles. I was especially interested in the "history" of this time prior to Robun Hood becoming an outlaw...a bit different from the usual explanations of the time and characters. The relationship that evolved between Robin and Marion was touching...and the flawed character of John as King Richard's brother was explored more than in the usual story. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and would recommend it, despite the violence, to most friends.
The movie was gripping from beginning to end. The conflict between the desire for revenge and the need to be human and humane was pivotal. The fact, given this is a true story, that people are capable of such extremes of feelings and behavior, of both good and evil, is a lesson for us all!
