So close yet...

The recent Star Trek movie failed to connect on the crew's inter-relationships in the way that the original series and Next Generation did so well. Certainly this movie was incredibly ambitious and needed to develop the "new" members of the Enterprise crew. There were delightful moments along the way such as the young Kirk barreling along the backroads of Iowa in an old Corvette and some scenes at Starfleet Academy, but too few in my opinion. The fight scenes ( both fisticuffs and starship ) were chaotic and difficult to follow.
