At first I thought this was going to be another "origins" superhero movie, perhaps even one that would only be a one of one that we would never see a sequel to. When I walked out I was all smiles and looking forward to the next in what I hope will be a thought provoking journey for one hell of a character.
When we start we have a clear Hollywood idea of a twist on superheros, but end up with a truly different way of dealing with a character's origins (through his amnesia) without the cliche of flash backs.
Plus Will Smith is just way funny and a hell of an actor in this movie. I really feel every emotion he conveys, often without words.
In short, Hancock is the first superhero I've really connected with in a long time.
That said, this is no Iron Man but is definitely better than Hulk (which I also liked, just not as much as Hancock).
In short, watch this movie!
SPOILER ALERT:
And where do I get the idea for a sequel? It's clear from watching the movie that Hancock's back story can easily be explored. Are they the last two of their kind, what were they built for and is the threat still out there? Can more be built or can human's be converted into what he is? There's just a lot of ways this can be taken and I for one am looking forward to seeing where this goes.
