Mature but beautiful lovers. Strong plot and dialogue. The man wants more committment than the woman does. Sensitive and thought provoking movie about anomie, the recession, the real people who get laid off, family ties that don't give you hives. And its funny! And George Clooney!! Gave me strong urge both to go to the airport and to renew my wedding vows. Wow! Give us more like this one

Gentle Insights Into Several Worlds

Sugar uses an engaging lead character and the theme of baseball to lead the viewer into and through the worlds of the barrios of the Dominican Republic, the US midwest, NYC and most importantly the thrills and heartaches of the entry levels of major league baseball. At the end, one is left thinking about the importance and loss of community, the power of language to exclude and the sacrifices necessary to be a champion. Could be edited to be less slow but then it wouldn't capture the true rhythm of baseball.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Gran Torino

Eastwood has done it again - a very engrossing movie about important ideas and strong human emotions. Though some characters, especially the "bad guys," are unidimensional, Gran Torino is a gripping morality tale for our time of severe multiracial and economic divide. Watching Eastwood's character learn and grow gave me hope.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
