If you enjoy wasting your time watching a self-indulgent, trite, pretentious, painfully slow display of unwarranted self-importance masquerading as profundity go see this movie. Otherwise you'll get more joy out of contemplating your own belly button. Really, this is almost insulting; we don't need a filmmaker to remind us that we all have questions about our own existence, our relationships to our family and work, and the presence of something larger than ourselves.
Captivating from the first frame due to the stunning performances of Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. Their ability to convey emotional range and depth is what makes the film relatable regardless of the audience's personal experiences. This evolution of a couple's love is infused with humor & pathos though not developed enough at the end of the relationship.
