I am a lover of cinema. I studied it in college and am completely addicted to classic movies. I enjoy most genres and don't really care as long as the movie is well made and evokes a response that somehow allows me to connect with the characters and story. This movie was absurd, callous, immature, and did not provide for any type of connection with the viewer. To quote my mother and father: "It was very disrespectful to those of us who lived through WWII." The movie was a mixed up telling of various stories that left the viewer constantly FRUSTRATED and wanting to know if the story was going anywhere. The acting was decent but without any type of engaging story, who cares?
I love high quality well made movies of all genres. With regard to the Star Trek series, I, like so many others, am most fond of the original 1960's TV series. I enjoyed the movies as they came out, but "Star Trek II, The Wrath of Khan," was the only one that I rated very high.
This new movie has an extremely clever script, and brings all of those old feelings of excitement back to the surface. IMO it is the best of the movies made so far. Because this movie goes to the beginning, we are acutely and greatfully aware that more stories are on the way. Happy viewing. I promise you won't be disappointed.
