A Step Up

Marvel has had a couple of recent clunkers in the stable: X-Men 3 and Spider-Man 3 were not at the top of their game, and we'll leave the Fantastic Four films out of the equation out of mercy. Iron Man, however, brings Marvel back to the forefront of the superhero genre. A terrific performance by Robert Downey as Tony Stark/Iron Man, fantastic special effects that actually help convey the thrill of flight (and the fear of falling), and a story just strong enough to keep us interested make this a great Saturday afternoon popcorn-muncher. "The Incredible Hulk" will have a lot to live up to. "The Dark Knight" from the esteemed competition will have its work cut out for it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
