Loved the genre, acting and art direction. The cast was fantastic and the music and film style really set the tone as if this was a cold war relic that had only recently been unsealed.
However, as someone who knew nothing about the book, characters or plot line. It felt a bit like I had been invited to a party with noone I knew. Conversations felt like I was coming in half way through and always trying to catch up on names and faces.
Lastly, dear god was it slow. I give it 4 yawns and 1 doze off. Yes I still gave it 4 stars, but given the average age of the audience was 60+ I should have left before the previews started.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I really...REALLY wanted to like this movie, but had difficulty doing so. It felt like someone trying to be something they weren't (Abrams to Speilberg) by creating something it wasn't (Super 8 to ET/Goonies). I think Abrams has done some great movies, and I understand the Speilberg homage...where he lost me (spoiler alert) was why "IT" captured the humans...and why did I care? I didn't fear for them, and when "IT" was revealed, I was kinda, "eh". Don't get me wrong, this wasn't "Last Airbender" bad. It was very entertaining, and it was Summer fun...I am not disappointed I saw it, just disappointed with all that story and potential in play, that it didn't "Speilberg" deliver.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

My initial reactions to the Tron sequel were somewhat lackluster, but as the hype and previews built, I became more interested.
Fundementally, the original was cutting edge inspiration for its time, but thin on plot or any real emotion.
Tron: Legacy does a nice job picking up on the high points of the original with out overthinking it. The story of Flynn in the wake of the original and it does so in a format that exceeds the average movie by todays standards.
Great special effects, with just enough plot to connect the spectacular chases, and gladiator fight sequences with a hint of the Matrix and a dash of Obi-Wan / Star Wars.
Thorougly enjoyed Olivia Wilde (TV House's "13") but the beautiful "Gem" character and the "Zuse" character played by Michael Sheen steal the show.
Overall, a fun afternoon at the movies, highly recommend.
I had read some reviews, and I don't know what people expect from movies these days...
This was a great all round movie, and a fantastic sequel...maybe even better than the original. Highly recommend.
Given the lack of comic "material" I thought they took IM2 in a great direction w/ promise of more to come. I am maybe less excited about the "Avengers" future than IM3, which is sure to happen unless Robert Downey Jr. decides to avoid a 3-pete...if so, the franchise is dead wihtout him...IMHO.
Clint does it again. Unconventional, funny, moving, provoking, and at the end of the day, still entertaining.
Clint Eastwood seems to be one of the handful of people able to take a challenging "artistic" project, and still remember that his first job is to be a story teller.
