Joseph and his alter ego Seth take on the challenges Cancer presents to relationships, family, friend, and love, along with its personal impact. But the lighthearted comedic approach to the topic make this a very enjoyable movie.
Suckered in by decent trailer and movie phone reviews that turn out to be for The Help. This movie is dismally slow. The charactors don't speak, expecting us to guess their thoughts. The plot is stupid. A total waste of good actors. The gratuitous violence ruins what would other wise be a mediocre movie. From beginning to end the movie insults your intelligence. Did I say gratuitous violence.
Lots of explosions, good guys don't get a scratch, excessive gore. Mediocre acting, dumb plot. very hard to employ the necessary suspension of disbelief to enjoy this type of movie. You expect it to be unrealistic, but there is clever and intelegent unrealistic, and there is this dreg. I hate stupid bad guys. In Dark Knight we had the epitome of clever bad guy. In this movie you couldn't wait until someone shot them. If I want to see gore and violence I'll rent Kill Bill or any Torentino movie. Nice plane and bikes and cars though.
the fight scene weren't choreographed very well. And the chase scenes were rushed. They weren't as convincing as in bourne series. Knocking Cameron out so many times disrupted the flow of the movie. Tom was OK, Cameron was much better. The unexplained escapes very unsatisfying. I see that they were going for a live action cartoon and it was, but ultimately it didn't work that well. The ending was somewaht better.
Meryl Streep was superb and the story of her life in Paris was fascinating. Meryl captured the essence of Julia and her struggle to learn french cooking and publish a book about it. Amy Adams was spot on. You never once doubted she was this young woman trying to become a writer despite the challenges of french cooking and living above a Pizza take out in Queens. Very difficult to pull off two barely related stories in one movie, but both flowed and intermixed extremely well.
A bit slow and predictable, but this is not a chick flick. This is more the story of a average guys experience with life and love. As painful as it is. Paltrow was very good. I saw a lot of Phoenix in his character. I didn't believe the bipolar afliction, he seemed too normal. But it is a good movie, just a bit depressing.
Despite being a guy, I enjoy a good chick flick and a good tear jerkers. This was not one. Gere and Lane were wonderful, the rest of the casting was mediocre. While I tried, I couldn't buy into the story. Without giving away the details of the story, let's just say that it was just too contrived. And too predictable.
