I saw this in 3D at my local IMax, and the film was fantastic. I do not know if the excellent 3D experience made it better, but this movie was visually brilliant. The commercials do not do it justice, at all! I was also happy to learn that the story line was pretty good also. I was not expecting much from it, since so much was being put into the special effects. It was a great movie and well worth watching on the big screen. It was a cinematic experience.
I did not have any expectations, either positive or negative, going into this movie. I was surprised at how thoroughly I enjoyed it. I typically walk away from a movie with a few negative comments here or there, but I have none for this movie. It was Excellent from start to finish.
Many people hyped up the brutality of the scalping scenes, so I was worried that they would be too violent or grotesque for me, but fortunately they were quick and infrequent. There was only a scene or two with scalping, and they were very brief.
I would really give this about 3.5 stars, so I rounded it up. It was a very interesting concept and the movie was very well made. The story line could have been a little better in a few spots. It also could have done without the whole "documentary" aspect of the film, as I think that really detracted from what could have been an excellent movie.
