All the zooms, in and out, up and down, reminded me of Moulin Rouge & I thought the director heavily influenced by Baz Luhrmann, Didn't know until credits that the director IS Luhrmann! Spectacular glitz rather over the top & sets a bit forced (Nick's cottage just TOO cute & looked like a movie set.) Dicaprio has become a truly superb actor. Intimacy and quiet of the last scenes a powerful contrast to the earlier ones; underlines the shallowness of the lifestyles and of Daisy's character, and thus the irony of Gatsby's hopeless love for her.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, spectacles
