Since there was applause at the end I am sure I was not the only one with a positive opinion. I'm surprised at the number of negative reviews on Russell Crowe's part. I think he did as well as any other in the cast. This story has been one of my favorites since reading the novel many years ago. To see it on screen with this wonderful musical score was a real treat. I do wish to see it again. I have been surprised at the number of people who are unfamiliar with the story. That may be why some did not enjoy it as much as others.
Though not a real distraction, the cute little street urchin sounded like he had a mouth full of marbles but hearing that very British accent for a role set in Paris was a stretch anyway.
