Comic Book Comes To Life

The movie starts out relatively good. They really could have done without the 15hr flashback to devote more time to the story progression and ending. The effects were awesome. The action had me on the edge of my seat until about 3/4 of the way through the movie. Then it just fizzled. The aliens were sort of a "War of the Worlds" meets "Independence Day". The ending suffered from a sort of comic book story line and finished it off with image shots that looked like miniature models. Would I recommend this movie to anyone? I say yes and no. Yes if you just want to be mindlessly entertained for 1/2 a movie and don't mind lame endings and just love SciFi special effects movies. No if you will be totally bored by this. Wait for the DVD rental.

Overall this movie is grand on the order of special effects. They are some of the most stunning in a long time and well done thanks to the ILM team. The story is strong and a good follow up to the first movie. There is only one point where the movie gets a little hoaky and the audience reacted with some chuckle (No spoils). But then again it is based on chartoon characters and toys! Very adult oriented as well as enjoyable for kids in their teens (due to content) and up. I would recomend this movie as a summer must see.
