Most viewers will probably miss the theme of a pilot becoming a scapegoat where money talks and the truth is slanted. Yes, the pilot had alcohol and drug vices and most of the movie time reflected the problem. The movie mixes the pilot's substance abuse with an issue similar to Alaska Airlines Flight 261. One could ask which factors beyond the mechanical failure represent acts of God; i.e., the actions that resulted in minimal fatalities during the crash, consequences to the pilot subsequent to the crash, etc. Perhaps we too should scrutinize the values of society when considering a lesson learned in real accountability.
