If you're looking for a Civil War movie, this is not it... if you are looking for political drama with the Civil War as a background, this movie is for you. Heavy on dialogue, this movie is a bit of a throwback. The acting is outstanding on nearly every level.
Reading the book "Team of Rivals" would be a plus for anyone not familiar with the Lincoln presidency and the unique political atmosphere of the 1860s. The portrayal of Lincoln was fair and balanced. Anyone thinking he was a racist will be pleasantly surprised.
A must see film.
