Dramatic movie with great acting. A study in character that makes a surprisingly interesting drama out of the political maneuvers in Congress over the passage of the 13th Amendment. Convinced this viewer that Lincoln was most likely our greatest president, because of his principles, his intelligence, his persistence in adversity, and his empathy for everyone he came in contact with.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great acting, no doubt. But the story itself is poorly thought out, badly written, confused, and self-indulgent. Apparently animated by an intense dislike and distrust of gurus, which could be compelling, but this narrative is totally unconvincing because it gives us so little that’s appealing about this particular leader. We can almost feel sorry for Freddie, the other major character, but not really (since paradoxically he’s also the only free spirit), and there’s nobody else we care about. Everybody else is faking it, or a dupe. A real mess of a movie, with a void at its heart.
