I was extremely happy with this movie; I was afraid the sequel would be a bust, i thought it'd be pretty tough to keep with the series and meet viewer's expectations for another silent hill movie. As a fan of the games and the first movie, I can say they did a fantastic job with this movie. There were differences between the plot of the 3rd game and the movie, but that was to be expected. I like what they did with Vincent, and I'm glad they made sense of the ending of the first movie because I know the first movie's ending threw a bunch of people off in its ambiguity. Viewers who aren't fans of the games and haven't played them probably won't have as much of an appreciation for this film, but hopefully it could inspire them to look into the games, if the first movie hadn't done that for them already.
Special effects were really cool. Usually I prefer not to watch movies in 3D because some scenes just give me headaches, but I decided to watch this one in 3D because (for me) it was a special occasion, and it was actually pretty fun to see with all the 3D effects afterall. I also thought the soundtrack was great, they preserved some of Yamaoka's tracks from the first movie/games in this film too.
I can see some fans of the SH series being unhappy with some of the changes thay made with characters and story details. I think its best to be open-minded about the movie however, because this is a film adaptation and the audience isn't going to be getting the same experiences and reactions as they would from playing the third game.
Pros well paced, great actors, kept with creepy sh environment
