Excellent story line, wrapping it around the central characters is brilliant move. In the first franchise, staring Michael Keaton, we lost something in the change of the actors, the addition of all the villians and simply turned Batman into a circus comic book. In the new franchise staring Christian Bale we see continuity, fortitude on behalf of the production and a plausible story line created to do exactly what movies are for; escape and reaching out to people.
Great movie, I will own the franchise in my personal DVD collection.

The franchise is a let down with number 5, the reanimation of old actors made sense with the umbrella corp utilizing DNA cloning. One expects that from an evil company, however the reintroduction to Adam Westoras and the Red Queen was cheesy, not to mention the story could be much better if found Alice washed ashore after the explosion on Arcadia. The story line plausibility doesn't make any sense. If I were to write it then I would change the sequence, Mila washes up on shore, is found by the girl who believes her to be her mother. Nurses her back to health, then cut to Adam and why he switched sides, why he left umbrella, and even if is still the bad guy but temporarily aligned with the good side it works. He then organizes a team to find Alice, and does soem cheesy move to reinject her with The T virus... or better yet offers it to her and she makes the choice to become the hero and take out the prime research facility of Umbrella. The movie would extend for another 45 minutes as we walk throught the prime facility. Now if you want to continue the franchise then leave the Red Queen out of it until the very end where we are introduced to the real bad guy and MIla discovers her new path as the hero.
