Meryl Streep fans will go to see this movie. Should they? Perhaps not. (But as a Streep Fan, you can't help yourself) If you plan on coming away with the enjoyment and the enlightenment of her previous Romcoms.(ex:it's complicated). Plan again. When Meryl disappoints, it's a disappointment in itself. I would never suggest that her acting was less than stellar. Let's just say this was not one of my favorite characters that she has played. "Fluffy" would never be a word I would use to describe any of her charachters. But fluffy it was.
Everything from wardrobe to art direction was disappointing.
The premise was worth exploring, but in the end it was predictable, The subject was worth exploring in more depth and I don't think that happened.
I have to say that Tommy Lee Jones was the strongest and most entertaining part of this film. Wonderful performance by him.
Steve Carell plays it straight and does that very well.
