I enjoyed the movie very much. I was surprised to see Mary J and Gladys Knight who did a great job. The lead character's boyfriend was one of the more interesting characters. The children did a wonderful job and I fell in love with the little boy's eyelashes, what a cutie. The singing numbers were very inspiring although they were a liittle long and it would have been a bit better without the lip singing imo but overall a good movie.
I thought the film was very romantic and intriguing. The lesson learned to enjoy living in the moment because the next second, minute or hour with a loved one is not promised to you. I found myself tearing up a few times, unexpectedly especially the scene between the main character and his mother on the subway. It was beautifully done, showing a wonderful intimacy between husband and wife. I'd like to get this one on dvd for my collection.
It's been a long time since I've seen a really good horror movie and I am glad I waited. "Orphan" greatly exceeded all expectations. The little girl was fantastic as Esther. I was shocked at every turn and scared of what would happen next. Just when I thought okay that's it, Esther gave you more and not in the way you would anticipate. She was way over the top, bravo! Our audience clapped after the show, it was that good.
From the start the movie held my interest. I must admit that at times it was a little hard to follow though and I found myself asking "is this feasible/" What I really liked about this movie is the twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the unpredictability which is possible if you haven't read the book. So what if it was crazy and improbable, I was never bored and isn't that the reason for going to the movies, to be entertained. I certainly was and I'd recommend it.
I thought "Victor" stole the show from Wolverine...Liev Shreiber was a fantastic villian and I loved him moving around like an animal, he was great! The backstory fit in really well with the rest of the movies, they did a good job with that one. I really liked Gambit too and the prequel on the other Xmen.
I saw a story about this movie in the LA times and it intrigued me and I had to see it and I am so glad I did. It was truly a beautifully done film. The couple and their ox both struggling against poor health and old age. The movie is funny at times, then you are reduced to tears and then you are mad at their circumstances, all the emotions of a good film. As always it is the simple things that make the most powerful statements. If this isn't and Oscar contender, then I don't know what is.
Typical Disney fare, cute kids in danger, a big strong man and of course a female sidekick with a hint of romance to make the circle complete. If you like fantasy this is for you, it doesn't need to make sense it just needs to be fun and that's what it is. Don't expect a deep plot or deep characters you won't find it here. What did hold my interest was looking at the Rock's muscles and the cool special affects, overall a nice 1 hr and 39 minute distraction.
I enjoyed the movie very much. It was funny and yet serious. I liked the theme of forgiveness and the lesson the film taught. Mr. Brown and Cora were hilarious.
Derek Luke really touched me, he's a beautiful actor and Kesia Knight Pulliam did a good job in her first starring role although her "tough" act was a bit unbelievable at times.
As always Madea and her "brother" tore up the screen and Madea and Dr. Phil were funny as well although I thought the interaction dragged a bit.
I watched this movie because I was intrigued by the mystery of it. Will Smith as usual produces a well thought out performance but I continue waiting for Will to really let himself go in film, he is still learning. I thought the movie was an interesting premise with Will giving his lady love his "heart". The plot was a little loose especially with how Will chose his beneficiaries. I especially liked the scene with the older Latina, she stole that scene. Some of it was implausible, especially all the jellyfish stuff but overall a good movie. Ladies, bring tissue, you'll need it.
I went into this movie blind not having read any reviews previously so of course I spent half the movie pushing back in my seat watching the horror unfold and I'm not talking about the psychotic child killer I'm talking about the shock of realizing that such a big lie actually happened. There will be some awards handed out come Oscar time but not for Jolie. The men stole the show this time.
