I am always torn with the Harry Potter movies because I just love the books so much and i definately miss the great subplots and craftsmanship that they usually lack due to the time constraints. All in all this was a great adaptation of penultimate chapter in the HP story. My only issue was the very end which i felt came off rushed. It was such a significant "moment" for the whole series that i thought they could have spent 5 more minutes or so giving it detail. Regardless, its better than anything else you could see in a theater this summer with possibly the exception of Star Trek.
overall, you'll know whether you liked this movie based on how much you like the first one. it takes everything from the first movie and turns the volume up to 11. Optimus is cooler and even more heroic, yet on the flipside the stupid toilet humor is also more over the top then the first. For the most part the awesome action overshadowed even the most cringeworthy of moments (whenever the twins spoke/several scenes of dog and leg humping). All in all this is a movie based on a toy line and it delivered me some great scenes of giant robots fighting and honestly thats all i expected from it.
look dont get me wrong. I by no means hated this movie. It was a fun night out & I recommend everyone at least go check this out on a nice big screen. after 2 hours I almost felt like the movie never had a point. It had some geat action scenes but it definately lacked "the bigger picture" that the other terminator movies always had(time travel, fate)instead were given a very basic war movie with a simple plot & a pretty subdued ending. again i dont hate this movie & if it turns out this is just a first act in a proposed 3 act story then i guess it did its job. I just hope the next installment unlike the terminators themselves has a little more heart and depth & a lot less cold metal.
I absolutely loved this film. I caught the 10pm show last night and was tempted to call out of work today to go see it again. This movie surpassed all expectations! near perfect filmaking and and all around great time at the movies for star trek fans and non fans alike. I saw it with die hard fans and people who have never seen star trek at all and all of us left the theater with smiles on our faces. Please go out and support this film. I will be taking my kids and father to see it this weekend and i hope this movie dominates the box office. it was extremely refreshing after sitting through a terribly made film like wolverine last week.
hands down one of the best marvel movies made to date... they got everything right....Robert Downy Jr. is Iron Man...... you can just tell that Favreau is one of those special directors that "gets" what fans actually want....excellent job...will be seeing this at least one more time before i await the blu ray....cant wait for parts 2 and on.....also kudos on embracing the idea of the larger Marvel universe, its about time.....and for the love of all that is Holy, stay until after the credits, as it is the best scene ever in a comic book movie
