I think the story-line of the original movie was a lot better. The sales pitch by the rep at Rekall, the dynamics of the impact of of the dictatorship of Cohagen, the obvious implied advances humankind had made in order to colonize Mars were all missing and detracted from the success of the movie. The special effects, and acting, while spectacular, could not help the movie recover from the damage done by the screenplay/storyline changes. Had I never seen the original, this movie probably would have fared a lot better in my review.
