I went to this film and thoroughly enjoyed it. Then I read an article today regarding the scenes where Fritz Ostermueller, a pitcher, was portrayed as intentionally hitting Robinson with a pitch and issuing some disgusting racist remarks. TOTAL FABRICATION! Ostermueller's daughter and several sports authorities have spoken out in Ostermueller's defense. So far representatives for the film are silent on the issue. Makes me wonder just how much liberty the writers, producers and director took with all the other TRUTHS in this film? VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! I'm sure the lawyers are working very hard and fast on the defamation law suit as I type.
Having been in recovery for 30 years, dealt with and worked with 1000s of addicts and alcoholics, I found this film to be an excellent representation of the disease of addiction at work. Denial, the wreckage in they're own and the lives of those around them, the enablers, the whole enchilada. Just not being able to do it one more time, finding a bottom and surrendering to it, getting real with the reality of "just how messed up I am". I felt every emotion Washington was portraying on the screen. I don't know what his experience with addiction might be, but his portrayal was flawless in this film. The other characters fit exactly as they should. This film could easily be advertised as a biography of millions of addicts and alcoholics.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Skyfall.... not the best in the franchise but Javier Bardem outstanding.
Not as good overall as I expected. Storyline seemed a bit weak, acting was fine, dialog was often hard to undertand (could have been the theaters sound system). Outstanding acting by Javier Bardem, this guy is soooooo good. He just seems to know exactly how to look on camera. I think he must have a psycho-gene that he lets out to play when he's got the right role for it. BRAVO
For those that thought the "Bourne" saga was over... not so faaaassssst. I saw it today, thought it was very well done and wide open for at least 2 or 3 more. Jeremy Renner was perfect for the lead, Rachel Weiz was at her best , Ed Norton... what can I say, he's such a pro. Supporting actors... not a bad one in the bunch.
If for no other reason, you have to go see this movie for the outstanding performance of Benicio Del Toro. All in all, lots of sex, violence, brutality, etc. but what an actor Benicio is.
A very disconnected story line, no real effort to develop characters, hokey premise, hokey story development, either poorly edited or the Director/s didn't do their job, a rush to get to the end so we could see the setup for a sequel??? I cannot come up with enough here too really express how disappointed we were. Actually, I wish we'd asked for our money back.
