I was expecting some mind-blowing revelation on the origins of humans as well as the origins of the Alien species. The film does provide those answers, but nothing too surprising. It leaves many open questions, I assume to set up the next film. Did it entertain me? Certainly --- but it is a far cry from the first two Alien films which are gripping, ground-breaking science fiction at its best. Special effects are pretty outstanding with the exception of the giant "engineer" who looked like a guy wearing a rubber suit from a 1967 star trek episode.
