A visually beautiful film with strong female lead characters, Brave is sure to please young girls sense of pride while still strongly appealing to the rest of the family. Refreshingly for a Disney film, both of Merida's parents are on the scene, providing contrasted characterizations between Queen Elinor's poise and King Fergus' bluster, framing Merida's somewhat conflicted sense of duty vs. self. The story line is a tad predictable, the accents may be difficult to follow sometimes and real Scotsmen may have issue with the caricatures, but the film is so beautifully rendered, these slights can be easily overlooked.
See this film on the big screen -- don't wait until it comes out on DVD. The visuals are best appreciated in a large format.
