Think it maybe better if you haven't read the book

Yes, overall it was beautifully done. Good acting, great makeup, good CG, and as close to the book as you can make a < 2 hour movie. Having said that, the people around me who hadn't read the book were gasping at all the right places, and those of us who had read the book, knew what was going to happen next so not as surprised or excited. One of the best parts of the book was not knowing what to expect. It started out a little slow, and I kept thinking, wow this is a long movie. It was a good 2/3 into it before the games started. But overall it was great fun, and worth seeing.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
