I did not even know about the Hunger Games before two days of its release. I hadn't been to the movies in a few weeks and the idea of what I had seen in the trailers intrigued me. I went in with a empty mind and came out loving every minute of it. I thought it was amazing how they did all the fight scenes and the acting was impressive. I love the world this author created. What really got me was the brutality of the movie. Not in the sense of blood in gore, but the difference in the relationship of the characters. One minute they are training side-by-side and riding to their destination by aircraft. In the next, they are stabbing each other during the initial bloodbath. The mind boggling part that has kept me transfixed for the last few days was how normal the killing appeared to the dominating society. Their disconnection from the actual events was different, but in a good way. I already can't wait for the next one.
Oh and by the way, if you're one of those people who is an action junkie and needs either a car chase, sex scene, or robbery in the first five minutes, it might take a little bit for the story to get underway.
I am a new fan and will be reading the books. This movie, as I am a male, is suitable for all audiences except maybe little kids. This is NOTHING like Twilight so don't let that keep you away. It is about a girl who protects the things important to her while maintaining her humanity at the same time. Trust me, you'll enjoy it.
