I have read the trilogy, so my expectations were low, but hoping for the best. The movie mostly captured the book. It was better than I expected. I was disappointed on how they portrayed Katniss on the train. She seemed in shock and not in controle like she was in the book. I liked that in the book Katniss and Peetah together convinced Haymitch that they were worth training and I wanted to see Katniss display her power from the beginning. With that being said, Haymitch was portrayed very well, I like that he was not as much of a drunk as in the book. I love the part when Katniss was auditioning for the judges. They did a great job with that scene. I also liked that we were given some insight that is not in the book since that book is written first person from Katniss' point of view, because of that, we never got to see what the Gamemaker does. That was a very interesting addition to the story.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
